My Birthday Weekend

Dave and I took a trip to Lincoln City and celebrated my birthday and stayed at my mom-in-law's beach house. We had a great weekend.

We had dinner at The Italian Riviera which is owned by an honest-to-goodness Italian Family, with 90 yr old Mama Anna at the hostess table.
We enjoyed the beach.

Dave won at the casino!!

We went to Mo's for dinner.. best fish and chips on the beach...

And so the year of 26 begins with a glass of vino... off to a good start.

Ohme Gardens

Saturday, August 1, Dave and I got in our new Jeep Compass and took a drive up to Ohme Gardens in Wenatchee.

We got tickets at the Christian School Auction back in February and thought a hot August day would be great to explore the gardens.

The gardens were beautiful. They don't add flowers to make the gardens beautiful in that way, but there was definetely a natural beauty and neat rock seating areas to rest along the way.

I am ready to go with the map in hand.

Here is Dave showing off a chair in a neat little shelter you can have a rest in on the grounds.

Suncadia

Dave and I won a trip to Suncadia at the Ellensburg Christian School in February and we were able to go and enjoy it on July 2nd for an overnight.

The hotel suite was beatiful with a kitchen, huge bathroom, beautiful bedroom, living room and balcony with a nice view.

A couple pictures of the suite:

Being Tasered....

So yesterday at Citizen's Academy I took the plunge and was tasered during the Less Lethal Demo put on my Officer Deccio.

Not going to lie, it HURTS!! But after its done the pain goes away pretty quickly and I had no lasting effects from it at all.
Here is me right before the taser...

The worse part is that I tensed up because the officer goes "Taser Taser Taser" right before he does it. I think I would rather not know its coming.

Not the most flattering picture, but I was grateful for the Officers who didn't let me fall face first to the ground during it either!!
Now I can say I have been tased.... and I don't intend to be tased again!! LOL!

The Garden

After a back breaking weekend of wedding, the beginning of our little vegtable garden is here. The box was completely overrun with weeds, and it took quite some time and effort to remove them.. I should have taken a before shot....

Time to Cook

Well, I think this may be further evidence I am getting old... but the new stove arrived today and its sparkly and beautiful. While I have not used it yet, I sure am enjoying how it looks. I am excited to have a flat top even if it is a little more work. I know I will appreciate a properly working oven the next time I need to cook too.

I will let you know after I cook on it! :)

Month in Review

Well its official, I have been working at the Wapato Police Department for a month and man has it been crazy and exciting. Here are some highlights:

1. Preparing my first grant application to get us 3 additional officers.

2. Being a part of a team from across the County attempting to find a county wide law enforcement system to streamline all of the different departments information.

3. Assisting with a child taken into protective custody. She was a screamer.

4. Learning Spillman, Protrak (Jail), and the ins and outs of working for a police department.

5. Becoming the ACCESS TAC, Audit Controller, Validator, Badge Hander-outer, CPL Issuer, Pistol Return Reviewer, Sex Offender Monitor, Community Event planner, Contact Person, Protection Order, Warrants and Juvenile Case data enterer, supervisor, and all sorts of other things.

The thing I love most about Wapato PD is the team approach. Not once have I felt that I am less of a contributer then the other staff or the officers, and I have been given a warm welcome from everyone here.

It has been a great month and I see myself growing into the position and gaining confidence each day.

Paint, Curtains & Wallpaper

Well its official, we close on the house in Zillah on April 13, and Dave and I couldn't be more excited.

I bought curtains today after much debating and searching. Dave had a strong opinion about the curtains (as did I) and just when I thought we would not agree, along came curtains we both love.

Our paint for the upstairs is all picked out, and we plan to paint on the 18th and 19th and move on the 25th. So things are moving super fast.

Dave is antiwallpaper, so there actually won't be any in the house once we are done, but isnt the title more catchy if I include it?

We are planning an open house on May 9th so people can have a look at the new place, so be looking for more details later.

Will you be our neighbour?

Well the exciting time for us continuing... Dave and I made an offer on a house in Zillah yesterday and found out today it was accepted. We are very very excited, and now its on to the home inspection. The house met all of our criteria and was within our budget so we really hope the inspection and FHA Appraisal go well. Here are a few shots of the house.

The kitchen has a really neat island and a spot to hang vino glasses.

The bathroom is in great condition, but we don't think the baby blue walls will match our bathroom accessories, so it may need to go.
Dave loves the freestanding garage... we will need to put a new garage door on though.
Its a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath which we plan to renovate the 1/2 bath back into a 3/4 bath by putting in a shower stall, it already has the pipes and stuff. The upstairs has the living/dining, main bath, kitchen and master bedroom. The downstairs features an awesome den, large laundry/pantry room, 2 bedrooms and a 1/2 bath. It has a completely fenced in yard as well.

Lets hope the appraisal and inspection pass, as this is the perfect Zillah home for us!
