Its almost February....

In honor of the upcoming Valentine's Day Holiday I changed my blog background! It was easy to choose since I love pink & brown together right now.

I am looking forward to Valentines Day weekend this year. Dave has a music conference in Spokane and I will be tagging along. The school put us up at a fancy hotel called the Davenport (see picture), and I will be enjoying a spa treatment courtesy of my husband on Friday morning while Dave does all things conference related.

Both Friday and Saturday evening we will enjoy concerts put on by the conference and yummy dinners out. If anyone has restaurant suggestions in Spokane let me know.

Pondering...

Although I am sure most people who have know me for awhile would be shocked to read this post, I am vacillating with the ever present question of anyone who has been married for awhile: is it time for kids? January 2008 it was an easy answer "not now, probably not ever." As I prepared to ring in 2009, I felt myself not only softening to the idea, but embracing it. Not because someone is pressuring me - in fact I have had only encouragement in the opposite direction: to not have kids. Dave's mouth literally hung wide open when I told him... he thought this day would never come.

As I reflect, here are some questions from the website http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/319142/ and my responses to each:
  1. To Mend A Broken Relationship
Not at all, Dave and I have a great relationship and it is growing stronger every year it seems.
  2. To Provide Someone to Love You Forever, Unconditionally
No... that's weird and I think I would need a psychiatrist not a baby.... children are a lot of work... I could get unconditional love from a goldfish....
  3. For Revenge
    Against who? No.
  4. To Win Someone Back
Isn't this the same as number one... no.
  5. Because You're "Getting Old"
I should hope at 25 I am not considering over the hill. This has no impact, I have at least 5+ more fertile years before I have to worry about being too old.
  6. Because Everyone Else Is
I thought about this, it does seem like a lot of people I see around are pregnant. Not just friends or acquintances, but people in general. I think this is an increased awareness due to my desire to be pregnant, not some weird influence that is affecting my decision making. People around me have had babies for several years, and it never made me want to be pregnant as well.
How does one decide when one is ready. Do you need to own your own home? Should you have paid off your debt? Be done your education? Have a secure job with no plans to switch? Have short term disability insurance or enough sick leave stocked up to cover?
Or do you just go for it with confidence that things work out as they should....
.....I'll let you know if I figure it out.......

New Glasses

Thanks to our Vision plans this year Dave and I were able to get both new glasses and prescription sunglasses. We don't have the sunglasses yet, but we are loving our new glasses, although it is taking Ange a bit of time to get used to hers. Let us know what you think....

New Years in Goldendale!

This year we were able to join the gang in Goldendale for a New Years/Belated Christmas Celebration. It was hectic and busy as usual, but we had a lot of fun especially with all our neices and nephews.

We opened presents together and the kids got really into the wrapping paper... why do we waste money on gifts.... empty boxes wrapped in shiney paper would do the trick just fine, I think:

We had so much fun picking out gifts for everyone this year and seeing their surprise and delight as they opened the gifts from us and we knew we "got it right".... I think a personal favorite was the Costco Garbage Bags we got for Becky and Boyd.

We also celebrated Dave's birthday in Goldendale with low calorie cupcakes made with Coke Zero and a round of "Happy Birthday".

Dave's official birthday was on Saturday and we went to a movie and out for dinner here in Ellensburg.

We are welcoming in 2009 with much love in our hearts and both Dave and I are excited for the year ahead.
